What Sets Sero Law Apart

What Sets Sero Law Apart

Many attorneys advise from the outside. At Sero Law, we have also operated from the inside—building and scaling companies, managing teams, negotiating deals, and working within budgetary and market constraints.

This entrepreneurial background:

  • Anchors our advice in real-world experience
  • Helps navigate both legal and operational risk
  • Balances protection with opportunity
  • Supports continuity rather than fragmentation

The result is counsel that is not just technically correct; it is usable in the environments clients actually operate in. The firm's work connects business counsel, estate planning, and succession decisions for clients who need the pieces to work together.

Attorney Biography

Kevin S. Hill

Kevin S. Hill is Sero Law's Attorney & Founder and a lifelong East Tennessean. Kevin focuses his practice on business law, transactional matters, corporate governance, and estate and succession planning for founders, families, and closely held businesses.

Before entering the legal profession, Kevin spent almost two decades building and operating businesses. He launched and scaled a retail brand from a single location to multiple sites, achieving more than $1.4 million in annual revenue in multiple locations through strategic market analysis, digital marketing, and operational leadership that reduced staff turnover by 50%. He also founded and still manages real estate investment firms, negotiating acquisitions and dispositions that generated consistent returns and attracted investor participation.

This entrepreneurial experience gives Kevin firsthand insight into the financial, operational, and human considerations that shape legal decisions. Rather than prioritizing abstract risk-avoidance, he structures deals and plans that mitigate risk while enabling growth, continuity, and informed execution for both businesses and families.

Kevin earned his Juris Doctor from Lincoln Memorial University’s Duncan School of Law, his Master of Theology from Regent College in Vancouver, and his Bachelor of Arts from the University of Tennessee. He was admitted to the Tennessee Bar in 2025. Kevin, his wife, and their five children reside in Knoxville. He is an Eagle Scout and remains active in outdoor and community pursuits.

Why “Sero”?

serō

Why “Sero”?

Our name comes from the Latin verb serō, meaning “to sow” and “to join.” We chose Latin because it underpins much of our legal tradition, and because those meanings reflect our approach — providing clarity in decision-making and coordinating business, financial, and family interests to support continuity across generations.
